About the event
Living Nonviolent Communication - Bringing Nonviolent Communication into Everyday Life
A 5-Class Online Practice Series
Nov. 7 - What is Alive in Me? From Reaction to Self-Connection
Recognizing when we've been triggered; separating observation from evaluation; noticing our habitual stories and judgments; identifying feelings and needs; developing the capacity to pause before responding.
Nov. 17 - What is Alive in You? Listening Beyond the Words
Hearing the needs underneath judgments, blame, criticism and difficult behavior; empathic rather than intellectual listening; staying curious without necessarily agreeing.
Nov. 24 - Speaking Authentically: Honestly Without Blame or Shame
Expressing what is true for us without making the other person wrong; distinguishing vulnerability from accusation; making clear requests rather than demands; saying what matters while supporting connection.
Dec. 1 - Staying in Choice: Needs, Strategies
Distinguishing needs from strategies; loosening attachment to one outcome; authentically responding to and saying no; choice versus submission/rebellion; finding multiple strategies for meeting what matters.
Dec. 8 - When it Gets Hard: Bringing the Practice into Real Life
Participants bring actual situations of conflict, rupture, recurring patterns, difficult conversations, repair, and what happens when the other person isn't practicing NVC towards developing an individual practice for continuing beyond the series.
